ABOUT THE ARTIST:
The featured image on this page was created by the artist PAUL LUIKART
Paul Luikart makes abstract paintings, thick with paint and bold color and applied to the canvas in non-traditional ways, including swiping the paint across the canvas with old baseball cards. Primarily working in oil and acrylic paints, his work is usually expressive and frenetic, but grounded in a sense of rhythm and structure. His paintings and drawings have appeared in a variety of literary and arts journals around the country. Luikart is also a fiction writer who has published two collections of short stories (Animal Heart, Hyperborea Publishing, 2016 and Brief Instructions, Ghostbird Press, 2017.)
